My Happy Village Cambodia

Bringing education, health and hope to the people in the Prey Chrouk Commune of Cambodia

Since my last entry I am able to confirm that Teacher Lin has completed and passed his Intermediate English course and is putting those skills to work. Hopefully Teacher Chunney will attend a course this autumn.

I am now able to confirm that the water filtration system at Brasat school is now in operation. There were some difficulties in drilling for water but these have been resolved. Fresh drinking and washing water is now available not only to MHVc students but to all students attending Brasat primary school (550 students approx). This is a huge health advancement and hopefully will radically reduce the numbers of students with monthly re occurring stomach worms and associated illness.

MHVc has formed an association with Free to Shine Organisation. Free to shine (supported from Australia) promote educational advantages for poor village girls. With the assistance of Teacher Sophach 48 girl students and their families have been interviewed. I am able to report that Free to Shine has offered material and financial support in the form of ongoing scholarships to 21 students, including 1 of our night class girls. An example of the support is provision of a bicycle to attend school, uniform and school materials ongoing until they finish senior school and possibly further education centres. We are extremely grateful to Free to Shine and invite you all to check out their web site: www.freetoshine.org.

As a result of this connection our contact with Room to Read Organisation has been further strengthened.

Whilst we strive to fulfil our aims and aspirations for our students and villagers it imposes financial pressure on our small resources. We are forever grateful for your support. Please spread the word and help us attract more donors and supporters in order that we may capitalize on our successes. Donations can be made via Paypal or through our bank account details shown on the donation link tab
