We appreciate you taking time to explore our website to find out about us and what we are trying to achieve on behalf of children and poor village families of Prey Chrouk Commune in the Siem Reap countryside.
My Happy Village Cambodia Organization (MHVC) is a non-governmental organization (NGO), non- religious and non- political. MHV Cambodia is situated in Prey Chrouk Commune, Puok District, Siem Reap Provence about 40 Km’s from Siem Reap town and the famous Temples of Angkor Wat. Near to the Commune the main road turns onto an unmade dirt track. Road and travel conditions become difficult with the area threatened with flooding particularly during the rainy season months of September and October. The opposite is true during the dry season when it is very dry affecting the abilities of the farmers and fishermen to maintain their crops and fish stocks.
Our mission is for every day to be a happy day in the lives of the villagers of Prey Chrouk Commune by:
Our overriding vision is to help the children in this remote rural area gain a greater opportunity in life through the promotion of English education, social awareness and health education. Over time to encompass all those villages and the people that reside within the community.
We have a homestay arrangement in the village of Svay Chanto for volunteers. We use our own accommodation and facilities. Meals provided with local Cambodian family at low cost. Gives the opportunity to “Live the village life”.
July 12th 2022..
During 2020 – 2021 respectively MHVc continued to function albeit in a very fragmented way. Restrictions and closures being imposed by the Cambodian government. We managed to do some home and telephone contact teaching. We still operated from our original base at Prasat Primary School.
I am please to tell you that during the latter half of 2021 we were fortunate to purchase a building plot and have constructed our own school of 4 classrooms, WC,s washroom facilities for student and teachers together with a Tuck Shop for the students breaktimes. Recently we an electrical supply to the villages has been installed and we have been able to include lighting and ventilation fans. We also have our our own well providing a good water source.
Our student numbers are now at an average of 260 per day and we have increased our teaching staff by 1 teacher and 1 teaching assistant.
Our webmaster has up graded this web site and we are in the process of amending and improving the current content.
We can still be contacted on the same email address and telephone numbers shown on the contacts page.
