Bringing education, health and hope to the people in the Prey Chrouk Commune of Cambodia

During this period Mhvc staff have been very busy and committed to the forward momentum of our school and projects. Their hard work is only part of the story. Our volunteers and donors add to that driving force that has allowed to expand and remits particularly in Community Projects.

2025/6

We continued our WC constructions for poor families.

We constructed a small shelter (Brick/tin/ tiled concrete flooring) for a young pregnant mother and her 2 children aged 4 and 10 years. She had no land and we secured a lifetime land parcel from Prasat Village Chief and Commune Chief.

A second housing project for an elderly grandfather looking after 3 young grand children. Consisted of stripping the old house of rusted sheets and destroyed palm leaves. Repairing the floor, new tin sheet walls with door and windows.

Tim came twice to discuss and practice first aid with the pupils. He bought with him walking aids for some of our disabled villagers. At the conclusion of the second visit he held a First aid instruction and practical day for 20 of our evening class students and they all received pass certificates for their efforts.

Charlene Tann and family came to the village twice assisting and providing school equipment including a LCD projector.

We supplied  further water filters to 270 families spread out during the year. This encompassed 7 villages in our commune plus 2 “Floating” villages on the nearby Tonle Sap Lake. These water filters will provide clean filtered water to 1500+ individuals.

We have made several “Food parcel” drops to CP1/CP2 poor families and elderly residents that we judge to be in need.

We reviewed CP1/2 pupils in Prasat Primary School (also pupils of mhvc) who had limited school uniform. We provided 66 school shirts.

We are very aware of climate change and how it affects our subsistence farmers and fishermen. In October we held an agricultural seminar at the school. A trial with a dry season rice field was undertaken to ascertain what changes could be made to the traditional farming practice. Analysis of the trial is on going.

As important is our day to day teaching. The students are very active and responsive. Support is given by their parents. This is not a comprehensive list of all that has been acahieved during this period but gives, you, the reader an insight of our work.
